Robert J. "Bobby" Barrera is a solo practitioner and owner of the Law Office of Robert J. Barrera, P.C. After graduating from St. Mary's University School of Law in 1983, Bobby worked as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney for Bexar County, where he prosecuted both misdemeanor and felony cases. As an Assistant District Attorney, Bobby gained valuable trial experience and skills from handling hundreds of trials and contested evidentiary hearings. He negotiated thousands of plea-bargained cases where he learned to utilize the art of evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of each of the criminal cases in his court. In 1986, Bobby opened his own practice focusing on criminal defense at his father's firm of Nicholas & Barrera.
While he practices both civil and criminal law, Bobby has been recognized as one of "San Antonio's Best Criminal Lawyers" for the past 13 years in "S.A. Scene Magazine." In 2013, he was honored by his colleagues when he was selected by them as one of the "Top Ten Criminal Defense Lawyers" in San Antonio. This year, he was again recognized in three areas of practice in the "Best Criminal Defense Lawyers" edition in the areas of DWI, criminal defense, and white-collar criminal defense. In addition, he has been "AV Preeminent" rated by Martindale-Hubbell Publisher, which means his peers have recognized him as being "at the highest level of professional excellence." In 2013, Bobby was also included in the National Trial Lawyers' "Top 100 Criminal Defense Lawyers" in the United States. These recognitions have come as a result of Bobby's reputation in the legal community as an effective and experienced trial lawyer.
